Hell Let Loose Devs Share Ambitious Plans for 2024 Despite Recent Problems
We got to know some of the changes and innovations that are coming to Hell Let Loose in 2024. Team17 is trying to maintain interest in the game and attract new players.
Developers of the tactical shooter Hell Let Loose have published the last developer's diary for this year. From it we learned what changes the game will get in 2024 - the plans are ambitious.
The future of Hell Let Loose
For now, only a few pieces of information have been shared about the future of the game (we have listed them below). We should learn more details early next year, when the roadmap will be released.
- Hell Let Loose will receive a new map called Mortain. It's a French town destroyed after Operation Luttich, with ruined buildings, including the Hotel De La Poste. There are mountain slopes and wooded areas that will be usable during battles because of the potential for camouflage. The map will be available in Offensive and Warfare modes.
- Regarding this map, it was mentioned that the new forest areas will be more detailed, but this will not result in a decrease in performance. In addition, historical locations on Mortain are to be reproduced as accurately as possible.
- The developers will introduce to the game additional uniforms, a Crusader Mark III tank and a No.82 grenade (Gammon Bomb).
- User interface elements are to be significantly changed to make it easier for new players to find their way around at the beginning of the game. The tactical map is to become clearer, the developers are also working on improving the field manual.
- Some graphical elements will be redesigned. For example, the appearance of wet roads and fire will be improved.
Recent problems
Hell Let Loose will thus get a lot of significant changes. Most likely, this is the developers' reaction to the recent worse period of the title. A downward trend in terms of the number of active players has been evident for some time. Currently on average between 4,000 and 10,000 people are playing the game at the same time (via SteamDB), while just a few months ago we were seeing 10-17 thousand players at the same time.
The developers are mainly aiming to attract new audiences, as evidenced by the announced interface changes. They also want to regain the trust of older fans, who may have been disappointed recently with updates filled with bugs (and disastrous trailer).
It is worth noting that the original developer of Hell Let Loose - Black Matter - has been out of development for some time now. Team17 has appointed a completely new team for this purpose, and the city of Mortain will be the first map in the game, which was handled completely from scratch by the latter team.
