Haunted House Returns; Atari Resurrects Classic Brand
Atari has announced Haunted House, a game that represents the resurrection of a classic horror brand.
Atari has announced Haunted House, a new installment of one of the oldest brands among horror games. Released in 1982, the original is considered one of the forefathers of the survival-horror genre.
- The game will be released on PC, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Atari VCS, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
- The release will take place this year.
In Haunted House players will take on the role of Lyn Graves, the savvy niece of the legendary treasure hunter Zachary Graves. The heroine will visit her uncle's estate with her closest friends. On the spot, she will discover that the house is full of wraiths and monsters that will quickly kidnap her companions. To save them, the heroine will have to collect all the pieces of a shattered magic urn.
The game will offer procedurally generated room layouts and random ghost locations. During the game, players will focus on sneaking and using an arsenal of traps and items to distract the ghosts hunting Lyn. The heroine is also expected to collect gems to enhance her skills. All this will be shown in isometric 3D.
While exploring the haunted house, Lyn is also expected to free her friends, who will then become playable characters. Each of them will have unique abilities, which will add variety to the gameplay. In addition, the game is to be full of collectibles and legends based on the original Haunted House and other classic brands from Atari's golden era.
