Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a game, which recently came out of early access and is starting to enjoy increasing popularity. Our task is to search for shipwrecks abandoned in Earth's orbit in order to recover valuable materials from them. In this guide you will learn, how to depressurize a ship safely.
Depressurizing a ship
The key tool needed to depressurize a ships is the Atmospheric Regulator. This device is located inside ships and automatically tries to keep the atmosphere pressurized. You can activate it manually to depressurize part of the vessel. However, this only works in specific compartments.
Level 2 and 3 ships consist of two compartments: the cargo/passenger compartment and the cockpit. Each of these compartments contains an Atmospheric Regulator. If you use the regulator in the cargo area, the cockpit will remain pressurized. If you use the tool in the cockpit, the cargo area will remain pressurized. Even if you open the cockpit door and try to use the regulator to depressurize the ship, the device in the other section will simultaneously try to keet the vessel pressurized, leading to an explosive decompression.
How to do it?
A method to safely depressurize a ship in Hardspace: Shipbreaker is to turn the whole ship into a single compartment by removing the bulkheads in a specific order. On level 2 and 3 ships, you can do this by following the steps described below.
- Enter the ship through the airlock and close it.
- Open the door to the cockpit.
- Use the grappler to disconnect the Atmospheric Regulator in the cockpit.
- Close the cockpit door and use the cutter to cut off the door.
- Use the Atmospheric Regulator over the airlock to depressurize the ship.
- Open the airlock.
After completing these steps, the ship should be depressurized and open to the vacuum of space.
