Gwent: The Witcher Card Game beta pushed to October
CD Projekt RED needs some more time before they launch the closed beta of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. The testing will start in October.
We won’t be testing Gwent: The Witcher Card Game in September after all, as the launch of the closed beta has been postponed to October 25, 2016. CD Projekt RED explained that they need the extra month in order to make some necessary changes and improvements to the game, so that it made a proper first impression. On the other hand, the standalone version of The Witcher 3’s acknowledged CCG will be playable next week at this year’s gamescom (August 17-21). The full version of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is planned to launch on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Head over to the official website to register for the beta.
Gwent, as it appears in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, puts two rivaling armies against each other. Players draw cards from their decks in turns, which represent specific battle units assigned to one of three types. The player who wins two rounds, wins the game. The key to victory is choosing the right moment to play your cards – if you use up the best ones too soon, you may not be able to win more than one round. The standalone version expands on the game’s mechanics by adding new units and special effects as well as fully-voiced single player story campaigns.
