Guild Wars 2 is Doing Great; Will Receive Fourth Expansion
The developers of Guild Wars 2 have praised the excellent results of the End of Dragons expansion and announced that the game will receive a fourth major DLC.
Soon it will be a month since the release End of Dragons, the latest expansion for the MMORPG Guild Wars 2. Devs at ArenaNet summarized the game's condition and discussed plans for the future.
The authors are happy because the DLC was received very warmly. A few weeks was enough for End of Dragons to beat the total sales of the previous expansion (Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire).
The developers boasted that over the past three years the number of active players in Guild Wars 2 has more than doubled.
The future of Guild Wars 2
The game is already ten years old, but thanks to its high popularity it will be further developed.
- End of Dragons will soon receive a more difficult Challenge Mode for four 10-player missions, the so-called "Strike Missions," and two variants of legendary weapons.
- The biggest highlight of the spring will be the return of Living World Season 1. This story-rich event was only available for a short time early in the history of GW2. The storyline will be divided into five episodes. The first will debut on April 19 and the second on May 24.
- Also planned are virtual festivals, the aforementioned Challenge Mod for Strike Mission Xunlai Jade Junkyard, changes to the profession system, and beta testing of an improved version of World vs World mode.
- The main API of Guild Wars 2 will be DirectX 11, which will provide better performance.
- ArenaNet is working on the release of Guild Wars 2 on Steam. This is currently one of the priorities for the studio and the developers are hoping to get it done this year.
- The developers have confirmed that Guild Wars 2 will receive another expansion in the future. However, it is too early for any details to be revealed.
