ArenaNet finally revealed details about the End of Dragons expansion for the MMORPG Guild Wars 2. The devs also informed when we can expect the release of the expansion - it's planned for February next year. Unfortunately, the exact date was not revealed. Pre-orders have already started on the official website of the expansion.
Guild Wars 2: End of Dragon is the third expansion for the game. It will offer a new story line which will be set in Cantha - the island region which is home to the oldest human nation, Tyri. This place was separated from the world for 200 years due to a curse. Over the course of two centuries, many ingenious uses for the material known as dragon jade have been discovered, which, combined with a wealth of magic, has provided the local communities with access to solutions and technologies unknown anyhere else. However, the dragon's cycle of growth and prosperity is beginning to fade. As a result, Cantha is likely to once again become part of the larger world, but the price for this may be the loss of progress built up over years of isolation.
In addition to new locations and adventures Guild Wars 2: End of Dragon will offer an additional mount in the form of a giant siege turtle. It will be the first animal in the game that can be mounted by two players - all previous ones could only be ridden by one character.
The expansion will also introduce a new skiff that can be used to transport groups of players, as well as a new fishing mechanic that enables the players to acquire extra food and participate in special tournaments to determine the best anglers in Tyria.
End of Dragon will also offer new elite specializations for all nine professions, introducing fresh gameplay mechanics. We'll check these solutions out next month during open testing. We will have to create a new character for them. The beta of elite specializations will start on August 17 and will last until November.
Guild Wars 2: End of Dragon will also introduce new strike missions challenges for parties of ten players and offer a variety of additional items, including third-generation legendary weapons.
