Guess Who Got a Cameo in Cyberpunk 2077? [SPOILERS]
There are certainly a lot of secrets hidden in the depths of Night City. Among its secrets we can find not only dark stories, but also interesting easter eggs. One of them turned out to be a wise guy who looks much like a certain famous game developer.
When travelling across the winding streets of Night City in Cyberpunk 2077, we pass hundreds of insignificant people, just trying to survive. While roaming the dark alleys, we can get shanked by a random homeless person or witness shady types doing business in plain sight. If we get lost in the wrong neighborhood, the local gang will make that evening our last. In one of the city's bustling bars, however, we encounter a Japanese man who resembles the man behind the Metal Gear Solid series and Death Stranding. While Kojima's lookalike is not hostile, he has other ways to annoy the player. His appearance in Cyberpunk 2077 could have been expected even after his visit at CD Projekt Red, but until this moment it was only a speculation.
Where exactly do we find him? During one of the heists we find ourselves in a tasteful bar, whose chicly dressed, wealthy clients drinks in various lounges. These are typical characters you might expect from the upper class Night City residents. They talk about the events they organize on their yachts and the city's exclusive art scene. Our man is in one of the lounges on the side.
Oshima - as the character is called - communicates in his native language, which is translated on the fly by V's implants. He discusses various ideas with his interlocutorss, mentioning that he has a team of researchers in Tokyo who work to capture the full spectrum of human emotions. He explains this by wanting to include "true, raw feelings" in his latest work, combining "happiness with melancholy" or "peace with a hidden sense of anxiety". It is hard not to notice the similarity between Oshima and Kojima (the name's basically a pun on the characters used in Kojima's name). Characteristic tattered hair, round glasses, stylish motorcycle jacket and an excess of deep thoughts and ambitious plans.
What's more, you can interact with the character and here's where the charm is dispelled, because Oshima won't let himself be pushed out of the conversation, and when he's done talking, he'll start asking the player if he's brought him some drugs or if you know his work. But when he doesn't get an answer, he just starts ignoring the player's character.
