GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S May Run on RDR 2 Engine

GTA Online users have discovered code fragments that suggest that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version may run on the engine used in Red Dead Redemption 2, which will result in significant visual improvements, among other things.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. GTA Online may run on the engine used in Red Dead Redemption 2;
  2. Hints were found by users Tez2 and alloc8or, known leakers.

Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S may use the new version of RAGE engine, which powers Red Dead Redemption 2. Users of gtaforums.com - Tez2 and alloc8or - found some interesting lines in the code, which they shared with the community.

In the code of GTA Online, the users found, among others, the following line "rage::fwuiMessageBase", which is supposed to correspond to same line used in Red Dead Redemption 2 and be a hint that Rockstar Games will port GTA Online versions developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S using the new version of the engine. Another line, "CHasCharacterToTransferDecisionPage", suggests the option to move created characters between different versions of the game.

Of course, it should be remembered that this is all speculation and even the fact that the two users have given so far provided verified information does not mean that also this time they are right.

GTA 5 is scheduled to come to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this year. However, Rockstar Games did not tell us when exactly the game will be released and what improvements we can expect from the new version. I'm curious what the developers will come up with, as we're dealing with a game that was still being developed on PS3 and Xbox 360.
