GTA 5 Continues to Sell; T2 Reports 'Insane' Results
Rockstar Games titles continue to sell like hot cakes. Grand Theft Auto V has sold more than 150 million copies, and Red Dead Redemption 2 - 38 million.
- The GTA series sales: 350 million copies;
- GTA 5 sales: 150 million copies,
- The Red Dead Redemption series sales: 60 million copies,
- RDR2 sales: 38 million copies.
Take-Two Interactive released a new financial report. The publisher traditionally boasted updated sales figures of individual games. We have learned that Grand Theft Auto V has already sold over 150 million copies. In turn, sales of the entire IP exceeded 350 million copies.
Three months ago the company boasted 145 million copies sold, and sixmonths ago - 140 million. GTA 5 has been selling about 5 million copies per quarter for a long time. Such a result would be impressive even for a new game, and we're talking about a title which will celebrate its eighth birthday next month.
Rockstar Games managed to create a true phenomenon, which does not disappear from bestseller lists. Grand Theft Auto V was, for example, among the ten best-selling games on Steam last week.
The game's good streak will not end soon. The developers are working on new content for GTA Online and on November 11 this year, a version of GTA 5 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be released. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick is confident that the game will also be a hit on next-gen consoles. He also promises that it will be more than a simple port.
The publisher also boasted that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold 38 million copies. The game is currently selling at a rate of around one million copies per quarter. RDR2 and RDR1 have already sold 60 million copies combined. This figure does not include Red Dead Revolver.
Take-Two Interactive also reported sales results for its other major series.
