Gothic Remake Developed by New Spanish Studio
We've known for a year about the fact that a remake of Gothic is being created. Now, the studio, which is responsible for it, has changed its name and is looking for more employees.
- Alkimia Interative is responsible for the development of Gothic remake;
- Team was founded based on the THQ Nordic Barcelona Studio;
- In the coming months we will see the first effects of its work.
Already over a year ago THQ Nordic confirmed that there will be a new version of Gothic. Until now, the work on the game was handled by THQ Nordic Barcelona Studio. Today, however, it was revealed that the team changed its name to Alkimia Interactive. Along with this change the studio also began to expand and become more unique. The developers are currently looking for more employees to help them work on Gothic.
Despite the ongoing recruitment, work on the remake is progressing at a good pace according to THQ Nordic. Within the next few months its effects are to be presented to the players. Alkimia Interactive is confident in the quality of the game. The studio also shows great ambitions, as mentioned by Reinhard Pollice, the head of the team.
"We strive to build Alkimia Interactive as a top-notch RPG studio. Our ambition is to become one of the best addresses for PC/Console core game development in Southern Europe."
The team got together and started the development of the game already last summer (under the name of THQ Nordic Barcelona Studio). Since then, work on the remake has progressed steadily. We can expect that the new Gothic will include some of the elements that we had a chance to see in the demo published over a year ago. It should be remembered that it was an early prototype, whose main purpose was to check player interest in a possible remake. The game is being developed for PC and next-gen consoles.
