Lead God of War Ragnarok Co-creator Leaves Sony for Netflix; Will Make AAA Game
The art director of God of War Ragnarok has joined the ranks of Netflix, where he will develop a AAA game. He will be assisted in this endeavor by other experienced developers.
One of the main creators of God of War: Ragnarok, Raf Grassetti, who until recently held the position of art director at Santa Monica Studio, announced, via Twitter, that he's changing jobs.
In a short tweet, he announced that he has joined the ranks of Netflix's gaming studio, where he will be working on a new AAA IP.
Co-creator of God of War: Ragnarok also revealed that in developing this high-budget game he will have the opportunity to work with developers with a wealth of experience.
Among the people he will be working with at Netflix, Grassetti mentioned:
- Joseph Staten, former screenwriter of Halo and creative director at 343 Industries,
- Chacko Sonny, who until recently was the executive producer of Blizzard's Overwatch,
- Jerry Edsall, who in the past was, among other things, a programmer working on the 4th and 5th installments of Gears of War.
It is worth noting that Netflix has been investing more and more in the video game industry in recent years. According to reports from last year, the streaming giant is working on a dozens of titles. Some of them are reportedly ambitious projects that are supposed to contain no ads or microtransactions. Circumstantial evidence also suggests that one of the high-budget games from Netflix could be a shooter set in the world of Stranger Things.
