Ghost of Tsushima With Exceptionally High Completion Rate
Ghost of Tsushima boasts a very high completion rate. Among PS4 open world games, only Marvel's Spider-Man has a better score.
Ungeek published an interesting analysis of open-world games released on PlayStation 4. It shows that Ghost of Tsushima was completed by more than half of those who played the title, a result rarely seen in this category.
The data was obtained by comparing the Trophies awarded after completing the main storylines in open world games. In the case of Ghost of Tsushima ,it is called "Mono no Aware" and was obtained by 50.2% of the game's owners. In this category, only Marvel's Spider-Man can boast a higher result (50.8%). It is worth remembering, however, that completing the campaign in the latter takes about 25-30 hours, while Tsushima can require as much as twice the time.
The fact that almost every second player has not completed the campaign from Ghost of Tsushima may seem surprising to those who do not follow similar statistics. In reality, however, 50.2% is a very high score, as the standard for open world games is approx. 30%. Such games are very extensive and most people give up long before reaching the story's finale. You can see how common this phenomenon is by looking at the list of great hits in this category, prepared by Ungeek:
Campaign completion rates in PS4 games:
Game | How many players have completed the main storyline: |
Marvel's Spider-Man | 50.8% |
Ghost of Tsushima | 50,2% |
Assassin's Creed Origins | 38.2% |
Far Cry 5 | 36.7% |
Days Gone | 34.7% |
Horizon Zero Dawn | 34.1% |
Assassin's Creed Odyssey | 30% |
The Witcher 3 | 29.8% |
Death Stranding | 28.6% |
Red Dead Redemption II | 28.2% |
Watch Dogs 2 | 24.9% |
Assassin's Creed Valhalla | 19.8% |
It should be added that, in general, many players do not finish video games, not only those with an open world. Last year, we wrote that three months after its release, the campaign of The Last of Us: Part II was completed by 58.5% of players, which was one of the best results among PlayStation 4 games, and that is a relatively short game.
It's worth noting that two months after Ghost of Tsushima's debut, the campaign's completion rate was 40%, so it's clearly increased since then. We suspect that the fact that the game offers numerous visual enhancements on PS5 played a big part in this, so those who bought Sony's next-gen were eager to go on a trip to virtual Japan in Sucker Punch's game. Especially since at the moment the choice of games developed specifically for the console is modest.
