Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island DLC With Difficulty Scaling
The developers of Ghost of Tsushima have revealed some of the new features offered bz the Iki Island DLC. The expansion will introduce difficulty scaling and new skills, including a horse charge.
Jason Connell and Patrick Downs, developers from Sucker Punch, gave an interview to IGN in which they revealed some of the new features prepared for the upcoming Iki Island DLC for Ghost of Tsushima. In addition to new skills the creators decided to introduce difficulty scaling in the expansion. Thanks to this, every player - regardless of what stage of the adventure they decide to start the DLC on (it becomes possible at the beginning of the second act, after reaching the Toyotama region) - will be able to expect an appropriate challenge. As Jason Connell said:
"“If you've already gone all the way to the end of the game, it's not like it's going to be a breeze. It's still going to have a challenge for you (...)."
What some of you may feel disappointed to know that Iki island will not feature new weapons or stances. The developers have assured us, however, that there will be additional skills - some of which will be available to the main character's horse. The steed will be able to put on armor and charge at enemies. Jin will probably also receive new abilities, but the creators decided that players should discover them on their own and did not reveal anything about them.
Instead, they revealed that they've made good use of PlayStation 5's features, including 3D audio, which has improved the guiding wind mechanics for discovering collectibles and more. In addition, the latest trailer for Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut (which will include this expansion) gives us an insight into the island of Iki itself, described as a "wild and lawless place". It's set to feature new factions, new enemies and animals to tame (including monkeys and cats). The sise of the Iki Island DLC is to be comparable to one act of the base game.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut will be released on PS4 and PS5 on August 20. Versions for both Sony consoles will differ slightly - details can be found here.
