One of the most important industry events will take place on Thursday, The Game Awards, during which the "gaming Oscars" for the best games of the past year will be presented.

The atmosphere before the event is hyped up by the trailer released today (below), which creatively and coherently showcases the best games released during the past 12 months.

Although it seems that there are only 2 main contenders for the game of the year statuette, namely The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur's Gate 3, the trailer showed us almost a full cross-section of the nominated games (and series), combining all the titles into a neat narrative whole.

Leaving aside the topic of the posted video, it is worth noting that The Game Awards is more than just a mere ceremony of awarding statuettes in 31 categories for acclaimed games (and more). It's also - and perhaps most importantly - an opportunity to make various industry announcements, mainly concerning future titles.

It is now known that "something special" will be presented by Xbox during TGA. Speaking of them, during the event we should also learn the exact date when Baldur's Gate 3 hits Microsoft's latest consoles.

Rumors also suggest that during The Game Awards we will hear something about the sequel to Death Stranding or the standalone expansion for God of War: Ragnarok, which we first heard about over a month ago.

The Game Awards 2023 will begin on December 7 at 10:30 a.m. PST. The event - just like a year ago - will last about three hours. A live webcast will be available on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, X (Twitter), Steam and TikTok Live.
