September will mark one year since the launch of Starfield. Bethesda's latest game has gathered a group of fans, however, the wider population of players wasn't particularly impressed with the release of the science fiction game. The strong competition from Baldur’s Gate 3 and the Cyberpunk 2077' DLC caused the title from the developers of the new Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series to appear rather underwhelming.

The game does have its fans, who are eagerly waiting for the DLC. The devs announced a while ago that the first expansion would be Shattered Space. Perhaps the players have just received confirmation that the developers are already working on the next expansion.

Bethesda reserves the rights to Starborn

One of the X users pointed out to the gaming community that a new application to the Starborn trademark appeared on the Justia Trademarks website. However, nowhere in the entire document is the name Bethesda Softworks mentioned. So, why do players believe it's about Starfield?

The answers should primarily be sought in the name of the company responsible for the application. We are talking here about ZeniMax, the holding company that owns Bethesda. This, however, isn't everything. The application description states that the reserved goods include video games, computer programs, and similar items, as well as related goods like toys or packaging.

The name isn't accidental either, as the Starborns are an integral part of Starfield's lore. This is a group of people who, thanks to Artifacts, have gained the ability to travel between universes. Throughout the game, we have the chance to encounter and fight some of them.

Are the players sure about the DLC?

Players are both enthusiastic and somewhat skeptical about the news, even though everything points to Starborn being the actual title of the second DLC. On the subreddit dedicated to Starfield, fans are not particularly surprised by this choice, because, as they point out, there is a shortage of Starborn-related content.

Not very surprising. Besides general lore the Starborn content is pretty lacking. (...)

I was half expecting a Starborn content pack with a stronger ship and armor but I won't say no to a whole expansion.

This is awesome. They clearly have more stuff they're holding back with Starborn lore.

There are many Starborn furniture pieces in the game. And the temples and the creators also deserve to be explained.

Can't wait for this.

However, it isn't known whether the reservation of the name refers to the actual DLC. Some of the commenters suggest that perhaps the developers are simply reserving something that has already been included in the game. This may only mean the desire to sell gadgets related to Starfield itself and the Starborns in question.

Perhaps Bethesda will confirm this information soon. Meanwhile, fans of Starfield have no choice but to wait for the premiere of the expansion Shattered Space, which is announced to be released in the fall of 2024.
