Microsoft Reports Impressive Game Pass Results
The general manager of the Xbox division revealed that Game Pass already has over 25 million subscribers. The number has increased significantly since last year.
Phil Spencer, general manager of the Xbox division, announced via Xbox Wire that Game Pass already has more than 25 million subscribers (on both Xbox consoles and PC). The latest official figures from Microsoft, dating back to January 2021, mentioned 18 million subscribers, showing that the popularity of Game Pass is steadily increasing. The news about the number of subscribers came with the announcement that Microsoft will acquire Activision Blizzard, publisher of titles such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.
Microsoft will spend nearly $70 billion on the purchase, which will be finalized in fiscal 2023 year. "Once the deal is finalized, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as possible on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new games and titles already in Activision Blizzard's incredible catalog," Phil Spencer added.
25 million subscribers is quite a result, and the increase compared to last January is impressive. Microsoft has been very busy developing its gaming content to attract as many users as possible to Game Pass. There have also been recent rumors about a similar service coming from PlayStation. Phil Spencer claims that this is the right step on the part of the Japanese corporation. There is no denying that subscription-based services are starting to dominate the gaming market.
