Game Pass May Get Family Plan; Cheap Option For 5 People

Credible reports have surfaced online that Microsoft is preparing a family plan for its Game Pass service.

Microsoft is getting ready to expand its Game Pass service to include a family plan. This was first reported by Windows Central.

  1. The family plan will enable multiple users to use a single subscription.
  2. The option will most likely be available in several variants, with the most expensive one allowing five people to use the service at the same time.
  3. Five people will be able to play with each other in multiplayer, and this will be driven by the family account system originally developed for Office 365.
  4. Pricing is still unknown, but it's expected to be significantly lower than paying for individual subscriptions for that many people.
  5. The offer is expected to launch this year.
  6. Whether the family plan will be available simultaneously on Xbox consoles and PCs remains to be seen.

According to Windows Central's sources, Microsoft has wanted to provided this type of offering for quite some time, but it took a long time to negotiate financial issues with the publishers whose games are available in Game Pass.

PC Game Pass tests in Asia

Staying on the topic of Game Pass, it is worth mentioning at the end that Microsoft has started testing the PC version of the service in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. This is an important decision that may prove to be very beneficial for the corporation. According to the analyst Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners, 160 million users play on PC in these countries. Cheap subscription with access to premium games has a good chance to be a hit in these markets.
