After more than five years of development, fan project called Combined Arms has lived to see version 1.0. It is a free-to-play RTS, in which the universes of both branches of Command & Conquer - Tiberium and Red Alert - were combined into a single game.
It is a free standalone free project, not a mod. It was built on the foundations of OpenRA, which offers a new engine for C&C, providing, among other things, improved graphics, support for widescreen resolutions, and working multiplayer based on fan network infrastructure.
Combined Arms uses a ton of elements from the first Command & Conquer and Red Alert, but does not require ownership of those games. This is possible because Electronic Arts made both of these games available for free in 2008.

In Combined Arms you will find the familiar and well-loved mechanics of the early installments of Command & Conquer, but instead of two sides of the conflict, four factions take part in the war: NOD and GDI from the Tiberium universe, and the Allies and Soviets from the Red Alert universe. All of these armies have been recreated from different installments of the brand, but at the same time they have been properly modified to ensure that the gameplay in this crossover is properly balanced.
Combined Arms offers:
- multiplayer mode;
- standalone skirmishes against artificial intelligence within the skirmish variant;
- an extensive story campaign with 30 main missions plus four short prologue quests.
Version 1.0 added the final chapter of the aforementioned campaign and two multiplayer maps for 8v8 gameplay. Balance was also improved and many bugs were removed. In addition, installation has been simplified - previous versions required first installing OpenRA, and in version 1.0 this project is already immediately integrated into the Combined Arms installer.
Although the combination of the Tiberium and Red Alert universes may seem like a breakneck task, in Combined Arms this crossover works surprisingly well and offers a unique experience for fans of the series. In addition, it is also simply a great free-to-play RTS.
