Forza Horizon 5 Impresses With Visuals and Execution

The team at Digital Foundry is thrilled with the technical aspects of Forza Horizon 5. Playground Games rose to new heights in taking advantage of next-gen consoles.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Digital Foundry has put together a video reviewing the technical aspects of Forza Horizon 5.

The release of Forza Horizon 5 is approaching. The title will be coming to the market on November 9, 2021, on PC, Xbox One, and Series X|S. Some time ago we published materials and opinions about it, from which it clearly appeared that we'll be dealing with an extremely polished and visually impressive title.

The team at Digital Foundry has joined the delighted crowd with an initial technical analysis of Forza Horizon 5. Their material confirms what we've known for a long time - the graphics engine that powers the series has undergone a solid improvement, thanks to which it offers more polished and larger locations, better particle effects, and lighting.

The only aspect that may be a little disappointing is the implementation of ray tracing - it is only available in the Forzavista mode, which is used to view cars up close. In the Forzavista mode, the game is able to squeeze out the maximum visual capabilities of the hardware, but ray tracing adds very little to the image quality and is difficult to spot even on benchmarks.

Nevertheless, Forza Horizon 5 will be able to confidently fight for the title of best-looking game of this year and 9th-gen consoles in general. What Playground Games has achieved deserves the highest praise.
