Fortnite will be ready to launch on next-gen consoles. Epic Games has revealed what improvements can be expected on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The developers assure that they have taken the utmost care with every release of the game and will take advantage of the opportunities offered by the new hardware.
Fortnite on Xbox Series X will offer 4K and 60 fps (also in split-screen mode). In addition, the title will gain in visual effect quality. We'll get blast-responsive tree and grass, improved fluid and smoke simulation, and new storm and cloud effects. Thanks to the fast SSD, joining matches will be instantaneous. The weaker Xbox Series S will enable us to play with all the new visual effects, but only in 1080p and 60 fps.
What about PlayStation 5? In addition to the same resolution as Xbox Series X and new visual effects, the game will take advantages of the DualSense controller, i.e. haptic vibrations and triggers that better reflect the control and shooting of weapons. Additionally, using the system option of Activity cards, we will be able to jump directly from the PS5 menu to the lobby of the game mode we are interested in.
Regardless of the platform on which we play, our progress will be moved to new versions. The cross-platform gameplay will also be preserved. This means that everyone will play on the same servers. Epic has also prepared a gift for everyone who logs into the game after November 4 - Throwback Axe. The item will be available until January 15, 2021.
