Fortnite boasts over 200 million registered users
Epic Games has announced that the number of registered Fortnite and Fortnite: Battle Royale users has exceeded 200 million. The game has a bigger population than Nigeria.
Epic Games's executives have reasons to be satisfied. Fortnite already has more than 200 million registered users. It's an impressive result in itself, but the pace at which the game's popularity is growing is no less impressive. In January this year, the production had "only" 40 million registered players, and in June - 125 million.
Of course, not every person in this group plays Fortnite regularly. In this respect, however, the production also achieves excellent results. A few weeks ago, after the title debuted on the Korean market, 8.3 million players played it at the same time.
The explosion of Fortnite's popularity this year is largely due to the expansion to other platforms. In April, the game was released on the mobile iOS system, and in June it debuted on the Nintendo Switch console. In October, the beta version for Android was made available to all interested gamers.
The fact that the game allows users of many different platforms to have fun together also helps it greatly. Practically everybody has at least one device on which they can run Fortnite. It’s no wonder, that the title was chosen as the game of the year in the Golden Joystick Awards, where prizes are awarded based on the votes of the players themselves.
Epic Games does everything it can to keep the players interested in the game. The company has donated $100 million to prizes in e-sports tournaments for the 2018-2019 season. Fortnite also regularly receives major updates. Yesterday, a patch with the number 6.31 was released, introducing, among other things, a Limited Time Mode in the form of Team Rumble, an epic and legendary version of the Pump Shotgun and a new heroine for the Save the World game mode.
