Kazuo Hirai has left to a well-deserved retirement.

In February 2018, Kaz Hirai resigned from his position as the CEO of Sony and assumed the role of Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Kenichiro Yoshida took his place. More than a year later, on June 18 2019, the former CEO of Sony took his well-deserved retirement. Now he will almost completely give up his job, and only help as an experienced advisor.

Certainly, the competence of Kazuo Hirai cannot be denied. He worked in the company for 35 years. In 2012, he became the CEO of the Japanese corporation (replacing Howard Stringer). Under his leadership, the company has turned into a powerhouse. By releasing games like God of War, The Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Sony has proven that the console market matters. Thanks to this, he managed to gain a decisive advantage over Microsoft in the fight for dominance over the 8th generation of consoles. Kazuo Hirai's own contribution to this is considerable.

One of the reasons why former Sony CEO decided to resign is because of the tiring travels that have tired him out over the last six years. However, looking at the company's profits during his time as CEO, Kaz Hirai may leave with his head held high.
