Football Manager Series Sales Over 33 Million Copies in Total
The Football Manager series has crossed the barrier of 33 and 1/3 million copies sold. This unusual record was shared on Twitter by the game's director - Miles Jacobson.
The Football Manager series of strategic football simulators has recently crossed the barrier of 30 million copies sold, 33 and 1/3 million to be exact. Miles Jacobson, the head of Sports Interactive, boasted about the unusual achievement on Twitter.
The picture and the play on words are not accidental. 33 and 1/3 is the number of revolutions per minute that an analogue record makes when placed in a gramophone, so the musical connotations are here to stay.
The most recent production, FM 2021, also broke SI's personal records. In early January, Jacobson reported that the latest instalment had reached the first million copies sold faster than any other game in the series.
The first game signed as Football Manager was released in late 2004. Sports Interactive, which has been in business since 1994, had previously created football simulators under the Championship Manager banner. However, in 2003, as a result of ending its relationship with the publisher at the time - Eidos - the studio was forced to create a new brand, which it has been developing ever since. From the very beginning, the title is published by Sega.
Football Manager 2021 is available on PC (on Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft store) and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Football Manager Touch 2021 has been released on PC, Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android, while Football Manager Mobile 2021 has only been released on mobile devices.
