Yesterday, Fortnite hosted the "Device" event, announcing the third season in the second chapter of the game (which will start on June 17, i.e. tomorrow). The action takes place around the Agency building, where the character Midas held back by a storm, which at some point took the form of a huge flood (from 5 minutes in the video below). Interestingly, players could swim in the surrounding water, although they had to watch out for sharks. During Midas' fight against the storm, the players were moved to the office three times and watched the world from FPP, getting acquainted with the story. You can watch the whole thing in the video below.
The event seems to confirm recent rumors that the subject of the upcoming season will be a huge flood, which will put a large part of the map underwater (supposedly, players will also be able to use sharks to move around faster). In turn, some time after the event, graphic teasers of the new season have started to appear on Fortnite's social media. According to a large number of players, one of them suggests the appearance of a skin referring to Aquaman (earlier players got e.g. Deadpool).
Yesterday's event in Fortnite attracted a record number of viewers to streaming platforms. The stream on Twitch was watched by a total of over 2.3 million people and on YouTube by 6.1 million. Such high viewing figures were mainly due to the fact that a limited number of players could log in to Fortnite servers during the event. Others had to settle for watching it live at a selected stream.
As we can see, Fortnite still enjoys great interest. In early May, Epic Games boasted that 100 million players had already registered in the game. The game is also certainly helped by interesting events. The trailer of Christopher Nolan's new film was recently shown in Fortnite, and rapper Travis Scott's concert was watched in the game by 12.3 million, which is a record in terms of the number of logged-in players in this title.
