FlatOut Series Successor with Fantastic Destruction Gets a Sequel. Check Out Trailer for Wreckfest 2
Wreckfest 2 was officially announced at the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase. A trailer on the game's engine was presented, showing better graphics than the first installment thanks to the shift to current-generation platforms.
The active development of Wreckfest ended years ago and all this time we were wondering what Bugbear studio is now working on. If someone put money on the fact that the Finnish developer simply started making a sequel since the first installment was so successful - that someone just got rich.
Today's THQ Nordic Digital Showcase brought the official announcement of Wreckfest 2. Below you can watch its first trailer, where live-action scenes are mixed with shots created using the game engine. The second one indicates that the sequel will be more attractive than the original, with more natural lighting and routes equipped with more details - although one might question if this is an improvement on par with a generational leap (the game is only heading to PC, PS5, and XSX/S). The premiere date hasn't been announced.
To sum up, it's worth remembering that Wreckfest is a game where damaged vehicles compete in races on mixed gravel and asphalt tracks, crashing into each other and causing spectacular destruction to the environment - much like the FlatOut series, which was originally created by Bugbear studio and continued for several years before they lost the rights to it.
