First Month Sales of Horizon Zero Dawn PC Almost Equaled The Witcher 3

Sony and Guerrilla Games have reasons to be happy, the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition met their expectations and achieved great sales results. According to the data gathered by an analytics company, in the first month after the release, the game found over 716,000 buyers, almost equaling The Witcher 3 in this respect.

The PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, the hit of Guerrilla Games, which was originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2017, has met with great interest from gamers. What's more, in the first few weeks of sales, this interest didn't wane even though the game suffered from big optimization issues and bugs that are still being patched by the developers. According to the SuperData analytics company, within a month of the launch, which took place on August 7, the game was bought by over 716 thousand people.

Analysts emphasize that the result is similar to that which The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt achieved on PC in the first month. It is much bigger than the result of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey in autumn 2018. Horizon Zero Dawn has also hit twice as many gamers as Death Stranding, the second most important timed PlayStation 4 exclusive, which also hit the PCs in July. Only 477,000 people chose to hike through the American wilderness.

Let's note that for a large part of AAA games, about 70-90 percent of all their sold copies are bought in the first month after the release. However, the strength of the franchise and interest in the upcoming sequel makes Horizon Zero Dawn retain a good chance to break through the magic barrier of a million copies in the coming months. On PlayStation 4 the game has found over 10 million buyers. Interestingly, it is estimated that one third of the people who bought Guerilla Games' game on PC already owned a copy of the console version.
