First Dungeons & Dragons VR Game Announced
An interesting project has just been announced, joining the D&D universe and virtual-reality gameplay. There aren't many details yet, but it seems something quite groundbreaking.
Swedish studio Resolution Games announced partnering with American publisher Wizards of the Coast (part of Hasbro) to create the first ever virtual-reality Dungeons & Dragons game. While no further details about the game are available at this time, Resolution already released projects that will likely serve as prototype, called Demeo and Demeo Battles.
Released in 2021, the games offered a simpler, table-top experience in a digital version, and you can look them up below:
According to the studio’s CEO, Tommy Palm:
Dungeons & Dragons offers one of the richest fantasy worlds that has ever been created, and it only gets bigger with every new sourcebook and adventure. We’re beyond humbled to have the opportunity to work with such an incredible IP and look forward to sharing the first details of this new project in the future.
So, while little to no details have been revealed, it looks like a very interesting project, especially since the D&D seems particularly well-suited to VR gameplay, and the studio has already proved they can make compelling games in this exact environment and partnering with such giant as Hasbro should give them the opportunity to improve on the original, quite modest productions.
