First Benchmarks of RTX 3090 in 8K

Tomorrow, GeForce RTX 3090 will be available for sale. Nvidia's chosen online creator have prepared videos showing how the card is performing in 8K resolution.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 can handle 8K games.
IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. GeForce RTX 3090 will be on sale tomorrow for $1499.
  2. The card was sent to selected youtubers.
  3. Marcus Brownlee and Linus from LinusTechTips prepared sponsored videos that show selected games in 8K resolution.

A few days ago we wrote that the GeForce RTX 3090 is slightly more efficient in games than the RTX 3080. In testing, the difference between the cards was 10% in favor of the more powerful model. However, it is confirmed that the huge GeForce RTX 3090 was primarily designed for 8K resolution.

The first videos that appeared on the web show how RTX 3090 can handle 8K (7680x4320 pixels). The cards were given, among others, to popular online creator Marcus Brownlee, who showed two games - Forza Horizon 4 and Control. In the former, he achieved almost constant 60 FPS on Ultra settings. The designe fared slightly worse in Control, which ran in about 20 fps after setting the rendering resolution to 5K.

The second material came from Linus from the LinusTechTip channel. Compared to Marcus' recording, his video is available in 8K resolution, which makes it more pleasing to the eye. The author also checked out Forza Horizon 4 and Control, bu added Doom Eternal and Death Stranding to the comparison. In both cases, the game recorded minor fluidity drops (2-3 fps in Doom Eternal) at the highest settings.

As we can see, Nvidia prepared a piece of solid GPU (and I'm not only talking about its size). Many will reject it ($1500 for the Founders Edition model), but for this price we get a monster that will enable us to play 8K at 60 frames per second. A completely different topic is which monitors / TVs will enable us to display images in 8K. The TV set used by Linus is 88-inch LG Signature ZX, whose price is set at $30.000. So if we plan to make the most of the capabilities of the new RTX 3090, we'll have to pay a lot.
