- Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is the top user-rated game on Metacritic.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is the best user-rated game of the year on Metacritic. With an 9.5/10 average for the PC version, the latest expansion for the eight-year old MMORPG ranks at the top of this year's releases and in 12th place on the all-time list (ahead of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, among others).
Almost as well rated is the PlayStation 5 version (9.2/10), and the PS4 edition even slightly better (9.7/10). With such a high average, the other games that launched this year were beaten without much effort. Next on the list, It Takes Two was rated 9.2/10 by gamers, while third on the list is Monster Hunter: Rise with 9.0/10.
FF XIV: Endwalker also boasts a higher average community rating than the previous expansion, Shadowbringers - which was (and still is) incredibly praised for the great script. Player opinions on Endwalker are even better, which translates into huge interest on Steam, where the game broke its previous popularity record.
