Epic Games and EA Sports Messed Up; FIFA 23 Sold for Next to Nothing
Some FIFA fans can speak of great luck. As a result of an error on Epic Games Store put up the upcoming EA Sports game for sale for just 29 cents. Interestingly, lucky buyers will not have to pay extra for the title.
Next month, FIFA fans will once again play at the world's best soccer players thanks to the latest (and last under the International Federation of Football's banner) installment of the famous sports game series. As the game's release is just around the corner, many impatient players are placing preorders. Interestingly, some buyers may get the feeling it was a steal.
A valuable mistake
According to information from The Gamer, a few weeks ago the upcoming title was available in India's Epic Games Store for only 5 rupees, the equivalent of 29 cents. You have to admit that this is a great bargain for a title that is priced at $89 in digital stores (specifically it's Ultimate Edition).
Of course, the above is not the result of a special offer, but a simple error that probably crept in when converting the price from dollars to Indian rupees. The mistake was, incidentally, quickly corrected.
A beautiful gesture
The situation is interesting in that Epic Games Store, in consultation with EA Sports, has decided not to withdraw the orders placed druing the short time. We can therefore speak of a truly generous gift. One of the lucky winners, and at the same time a Reddit user, shared the email that he received from the developer.
"Hi! A few weeks back, we scored a pretty spectaculer own-goal when we inadvertently offered FIFA 23 pre-purchase on Epic Games Store at an incorrect price. It was our mistake, and we wanted to let you know that we'll be honoring all pre-purchases made at that price. We hope you will love FIFA 23 - with HyperMotion 2 technology, both men's and women's FIFA World Cups, the addition of Women's club teams, cross-play featres and more, this is our most expansive FIFA ever. We'll see you on the pitch in September! EA Sports FIFA team," the message reads.
Unfortunately the number of these purchasers has not been disclosed, but it is possible that it is quite large, because the purchase could be made from all over the world thanks to VPN.
Finally, let's recall that the release of FIFA 23 is scheduled for September 30. The game will hit PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch.
