FIFA 17 breaks UK sales recods and becomes the fastest-selling FIFA game
The British nation loves FIFA 17 – since its release in late September the game has managed to become the fastest-selling installment in the franchise.
The latest installment in the world’s most popular soccer simulator series has been out on the market for less than a week (launched on September 29 in Europe), but has already managed to break some sales records. According to ChartTrack, FIFA 17 is the fastest-selling FIFA game in the history of the franchise in the UK. Its week one is 18% better than that of FIFA 16 and better than the previous leader’s, FIFA 13.
Although no specific numbers were revealed, ChartTrack revealed how the sales split into individual consoles. Over 53% of the sales belongs to PlayStation 4, while Xbox One holds a little over 40%, despite the fact that a copy of FIFA 17 has been added to every Xbox One S. The remaining 6% stands for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 combined. As for now, Electronic Arts haven’t shared the official world-wide sales for FIFA 17, but they will probably do so in their next quarterly report, for the period ended in September 2016.
This year’s FIFA stands out mostly because of switching to Frostbite engine, best known from the Battlefield series. It also offers a brand new story-based single player career mode, which turned out to be an interesting addition to the usual content. In Road to Glory the player assumes the role of a young soccer player named Alex Hunter, who starts a career in the Premier League. Apart from participating in games and tournaments, you get to experience other areas of life of a sports star.
