Few People Know The Only Movie Directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Which Was A Huge Flop
Arnold Schwarzenegger's unknown directorial debut is not widely known, and for a reason.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has stepped behind the camera of a film only once in his career – this was in the 1990s. At that time the artist undertook the filming of a remake of the 1945 Christmas production of the same name. Schwarzenegger, like many other colleagues in the industry, decided to try his hand on the other side of the camera, but in his case this turned out not to be a good idea.
It turned out that the actor isn’t a good director. Christmas in Connecticut showed how little he knows about the work of a director and filmmaking, and as a result, his production failed to become a timeless masterpiece like so many other Christmas movies that audiences return to every year at Christmas. And proof of what a misfire this production is, are the crushing ratings on IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Letterboxd.
And it seems that even Arnold Schwarzenegger himself wants to erase Christmas in Connecticut from his history. The film wasn’t mentioned in either Schwarzenegger's biographical book Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story or the Netflix documentary Arnold. The actor is probably reluctant to return to the subject of his failure, which buried his dreams of becoming a director.
And what exactly is the only Schwarzenegger-directed film about? It's the story of Elizabeth Blaine, who is the star of a hit cooking show. A woman gets a unique opportunity when she is given the chance to take part in a live show on Christmas Day. During it she is supposed to cook dinner for a heroic firefighter, however, there is one problem – no one knows it, but Elizabeth can't cook.
If you're curious about Schwarzenegger's directorial debut, Christmas in Connecticut can be purchased or rented on Prime Video and Apple TV.
