Far Cry 6 Development Ends; Ubisoft Looks to the Future
Ubisoft has announced that no more new updates will be coming to Far Cry 6. The developers apparently want to focus all their attention on their next projects, which appear to be Far Cry 7 and a multiplayer action game set in the same universe.
Ubisoft has announced that it is ending support for Far Cry 6. The source of this information is the game's official account on X. The devs thanked the players for playing as Yara and at the same time informed that the sixth Far Cry will not be getting any more new updates.
It is worth noting that the developers, although they do not plan to support the title further, leave the network services active while doing so - enabling you to unlock all achievements, such as "platinum" on PlayStation consoles.
End of support for Far Cry 6 certainly means that the developers at Ubisoft will now focus on the next installment, which has been talked about for quite some time now. The latest rumor suggests that Far Cry 7 will offer a non-linear storyline that will put time pressure on the players.
The French corporation's plans are also expected to include a multiplayer title set in the Far Cry's universe. Both games are tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of 2025 (via VGC).
Far Cry 6 was released on October 7 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game received an average rating of 76/100 (via OpenCritic) and got several expansions.
