Modders Port Van Buren Project to Fallout: New Vegas Engine
Fallout fans have tackled another ambitious project. They intend to recreate Van Buren, a canceled Fallout 3 project by Black Isle, on the New Vegas engine.
- Modders are working on a Van Buren remake on the Fallout: New Vegas engine;
- The creators are going to follow the plot and premise, which were to be originally presented in Black Isle Studios' title;
- In the game, we will play as an escaped convict who ends up in the southwestern United States.
Bethesda hasn't spoiled Fallout fans for a long time. So it seems that some of them once again decided to take matters into their own hands. The modders from The United West Team are working on porting the canceled Van Buren to the Fallout: New Vegas engine. The project is currently at a very early stage of development.
Fallout Revelation Blue, because that's how the mod is called, will be in fact a complete remake of the dropped Van Buren. Originally, it was to be the third major installment of the post-apocalyptic series, which was worked on by Black Isle. The studio was responsible for developing the first two installments of the series. Unfortunately, its closure in 2003 led to the abandonment of the game. It seemed, therefore, that this is a project that will not come back. Fans from The United West Team intend to change this state of things.
They revealed in Revelation Blue's description that they are trying to stay true to the plot and premise of the original Van Buren. The story will take us to the regions of southwestern United States. We will begin the game in 2253 as a convict who escapes from Tibbets Prison. Chased by deadly robots, we'll visit places such as Denver or the Grand Canyon of Colorado.
The authors of Revelation Blue will in no way refer to the work of Obsidian Entertainment despite setting the action where New Vegas took place. They revealed that the plot, which they intend to present to the players, could conflict the events presented in the RPG from 2010. As part of their project, they will therefore not treat New Vegas as canon.
Alternatively, the authors will take full advantage of the new mechanics introduced by Obsidian's game. However, they do not intend to stop at that. The United West Team revealed that they plan to get permission from other modders to include their works in their project. Revelation Blue will also enable us to use new weapons, which will be transferred directly from Fallout 2.
For now, the mod is at a very early stage of work. The authors did not reveal when they expect the release of the full version. It does not change the fact that already now a demo has been made available, thanks to which we can check the direction in which the project is heading. You can download it from NexusMods. To run it you need the full version of Fallout: New Vegas and all DLCs connected with the game.
