Fallout: New Vegas 2 Talks in Progress (Rumor)
Insider Jeff Grubb claims that Microsoft is in talks with Obsidian Entertainment regarding a potential Fallout: New Vegas 2. The company is allegedly very interested in the project.
In September 2020, the news broke that Microsoft has acquired Bethesda Softworks. Two years earlier, Obsidian Entertainment also had come under the company's wings.
Although the last Fallout games "with a number" (among others Fallout 4) were the responsibility of Bethesda, it is Obsidian that we owe Fallout: New Vegas to, which is considered by many to be the best among the "modern" Fallouts.
Please note that the following information has not been officially confirmed. It should be treated with caution.
Potential New Vegas 2
During his show (for premium users) broadcast on Giant Bomb, Jeff Grubb, a journalist at VentureBeat and well-known industry insider, recently said (via VGC):
“This is very early, but people have begun to have talks and say these words in sentences, and those words are ‘Obsidian’ and ‘New Vegas 2’,”
The "people" mentioned above are most likely high-ranking Microsoft and Obsidian execs. Grubb added that there are "talks" going on at both companies that could lead to a potential New Vegas 2 being greenlit for development:
“We’re talking years and years away. There’s at least an interest and conversations happening about making something like that actually a reality.
A lot of people at Microsoft think that this could work and there’s a lot of interest to make it happen.”
