Fallout: London Got Final Release Date And It Perfectly Matches Amazon's Premiere
The team working on the fan-made mod called Fallout: London has announced the official release date of the expansion. The information was accompanied by a relevant video.
Next spring will not only be marked by the release of the Fallout TV series, but also the long-awaited debut of Fallout: London. The mod (or rather a full-fledged expansion given the size of the project) built on the framework of Fallout 4 will see the light of day on April 23, 2024.
The wait for the release of the mod will be made more pleasant by an extensive video showing the results of the work of the talented developers from the FOLON team. Here it is:
The video lets us admire many famous London buildings, such as Big Ben and Buckingham Palace in their post-apocalyptic versions. Most interesting, however, are the figures provided on the material. We learn that:
- as many as 200 people worked on the mod;
- the expansion includes as many as 53 main missions, 35 side quests, 25 faction quests, 16 gang missions, 5 companion "quests" and many other random tasks;
- Fallout: London uses 90,000 fully voiced dialogue lines.
According to the developers, the mod is already completed, but some members of the team are from war-affected regions (which most likely refers to Ukraine) so additional time is needed to better test the project.
"Despite being content-complete as planned, upon careful consideration, we recognized that our testing process may not be as robust as desire.
To be candid, the main factor influencing this decision is the composition of our scripting team. A significant portion of our team members come from a region affected by conflict, which has understandably impacted their focus on the mod. As such, it caused us to fall behind schedule. Only through a clever reorganization and reskilling of team members have me managed to catch up, but it has come at the cost of testing.
(...)
Consequently, we've made the decision to exercise prudence and opt for a delay. This new date will not only allow us to finish ample testing, but it also aligns with the anticipation surrounding the Fallout TV series," reads an announcement from the FOLON team.
As the developers emphasize, setting the action on the Old Continent provides an opportunity to explore a completely different culture and history of Europe before the apocalypse. Fallout: London is set to depict how resource struggles affected "the class-structured society in pre-war Britain."
The FALON team also addressed the topic of the upcoming next-gen update for Fallout 4, informing that the modification will not be compatible with it.
