Fallout getting a fan-made remake in Fallout: New Vegas
The original Fallout is being remade by fans as a Fallout: New Vegas mod. Some of the first game levels are ready now, which you can see on gameplay videos.
Fallout community is definitely busy these times around. Let alone playing the recently released Fallout 4, a group of fans is working on a remake of the original Fallout in Fallout: New Vegas. This is actually a New Vegas mod, which will let us relive the adventures from the first game in the postapocalyptic RPG series released back in 1997. The project named Fallout the Story has its own NexusMods page, where we can find its current progress level (right now only Vault 13 and Vault 15 are 100% complete). Several gameplay videos were posted on YouTube showing how the game looks like on the New Vegas engine:
As you see, all the gameplay mechanics are taken from New Vegas, although some modifications to gears and enemies were necessary. Unfortunately, the modders don’t have the rights to use any of the actual content from the original Interplay’s Fallout, hence the non-professional voice acting. The mod also has a new travel system with random encounters and the ability to flee. We are actually eager to see the final results of the works, but that is a matter of future.
