Fallout 4 Gets Next-gen Upgrade 8 Years After Debut; Also on PC

Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4 will receive a free next-gen update for PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC. The patch will launch next year.

Fallout 4 will receive a next-gen update next year, which will improve the title's performance on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. It will, of course, be available for free to all who have purchased the game. We must admit that this is quite an interesting move, considering that the game was released in 2015.

Information about the patch appeared in a post published on the official website of the series. At this point we don't know too many details. This is because most of the post focuses on the content heading to Fallout 76. The announcement of the update itself is just a mention and closes in two sentences. It only reveals that it will introduce performance modes and add support for higher frame rates and 4K resolution on consoles. There will also be bug fixes and bonus content from the Creation Club (basically mods).

It's worth mentioning that the announcement is part of the series' 25th birthday celebration. Bethesda is celebrating this round anniversary pompously and has prepared a number of attractions for the players. Among them, we can highlight ongoing current giveaway of Fallout 3 in Epic Games Store. Subscribers to the Amazon Prime Gaming service, meanwhile, will receive as many as two installments of the series - Fallout 76 in October and (probably) Fallout: New Vegas in November.

Despite its age, Fallout 4 is still holding up very well - mainly thanks to the modding community. Currently, the biggest fan project is Fallout: London.
