Even More Destructive Unreal Engine 4 GDC Demo
Developers of the Unreal Engine 4 have published the full version of the tech demo showcased on GDC 2019, which presents the improved destruction and physics model.
A few days ago we informed that during the State of Unreal panel at the GDC 2019 conference Epic Games showed another tech demo of their Unreal Engine 4. Unfortunately, players could only see a fragment of it at that time. The devs fixed this problem and released the full version of the movie. The video titled Chaos, set in the world of the shooter Robo Recall, presents a new system of object physics. It will be made available in a test version together with an engine update number 4.23. The creators announced that they will then give users a wide range of possibilities and options for constructing virtual worlds, allowing them to achieve in real-time destruction effects comparable to cinema super productions. In the film, we can also see how buildings and other elements of the environment are spectacularly razed to the ground.
Let's remind that the history of Unreal Engine began more than 20 years ago, with the appearance of the legendary FPS Unreal. Its golden age began in the middle of the last decade, with the debut of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and the spread of multiplatform production. Since then, the engine has maintained its leading position in the market and is used by developers from all over the world, the largest studios and small indie teams alike. Unreal Engine 4 was shown to the public for the first time in 2012.
