ESO Devs are Working on Big New Game

The developers of The Elder Scrolls Online have been working on a new game for more than four years. The project is reportedly „very large in scope” and more than 200 people are involved.

ZeniMax Online Studios - the creators of The Elder Scrolls Online - is working on its next game. This is not new information as such, as it was revealed back in 2020, when Quentin Cobb boasted on Twitter that he was joining the team. At the time, however, it seemed that the unannounced AAA project mentioned by the developer was just taking intial shape. It turns out, however, that work on it has been going on for 4.5 years.

The information was revealed by Ben Jones, creative director at ZeniMax Online Studios, in the latest - albeit published about a month ago - episode of the not-so-popular Product Builders podcast (see video below). Jones revealed that more than 200 people are working on the game, about 50 of whom are part of the core team.

The developer said the project is "very large in scope" and represents a "significant investment" for the studio. Unfortunately, we did not learn anything more. What genre will the game belong to? Will it be set in a fantasy universe, or perhaps a science fiction setting? Or perhaps still in another? These questions must wait. However, given that ZeniMax Online Studios has been working on the project in question for more than four years, it can be assumed that more tabgible information will be revealed in the coming months.
