Recently we wrote about the growing popularity of Escape from Tarkov. The number of users playing this multiplayer shooter from Battlestate Games has reached up to 200,000 over the past weekends. Unfortunately, in the case of online video games, success also means the emergence of a very annoying problem for developers and users alike - cheaters. Reddit featured recently a video where a player manages to capture a person using invisibility while looting one of the locations.
If you are not sure at what point the action starts (the person hiding under the pseudonym Zamodius is pretty fast, so you might miss it), take a look around 0:40. If you look closely, the player does not collect the Propital lying on the second shelf. Instead, he goes in the opposite direction to continue looting, but when he turns around again, the item is gone. A moment later, the medicine also disappears spontaneously from the bed in another room, which was already directly recorded by Zamodius.
There's a shadow of a chance that this whole situation was simply the result of some kind of bug in the game, but most of the commentators on Reddit agree that it looks like cheating. Moreover, they give other examples of not very fair play. They mention, for example, Loot Teleport, a hack that collects all the loot from the area and moves them directly in front of the person using it. Fans also note that most cheaters can be found on the Labs map, exactly the location where Zamodius recorded mysteriously disappearing objects.
Nikita Bujanow from Battlestate Games joined the discussion on Reddit. He stressed that so far a lot of people have been banned for cheating, and we have to remember that it was not always easy. At one time, the team even got... threats from alleged gangsters. In any case, the Russians are not going to let go, but as you can see, there is still a long way to go before cheaters are completely eliminated.
We would like to remind that Escape from Tarkov is currently in early access on PC only. To gain access to a closed beta, you must purchase the title in advance on its official website. The cheapest edition costs EUR 34.99. So far, it is not known when the full version of the game will debut on the market.
