Escape from Tarkov gets a no commentary alpha gameplay video
Escape from Tarkov has just got a new gameplay video – this time with no commentary. Thanks to that fact, we can fully appreciate the game's sound effects, which greatly contribute to the overall atmosphere.
We can’t complain about the lack of visual materials from Escape from Tarkov, a rather promising realistic online shooter from Russian developer Battlestate Games. Quite recently we could peer into the development process of in-game 3D models and animations thanks to two episodes of dev diary. Now, the studio posted a 2-minute long gameplay footage from Escape from Tarkov alpha. No commentary, just raw gameplay – this time we can really immerse into the game’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-like atmosphere (no mutants here though).
There are at least two noteworthy things to be seen in the video. First of all, the animations. We can see how the weapon behaves – how it sways in hands while aiming, how it recoils when shooting, and how it occasionally jams. Note also the effect of bullets hitting metal surfaces.
Another thing are the sound effects. Gunshots, yelling of the combatants, and screams of the wounded are not the only sounds we can hear. Bullets whiz as they fly around and ricochet, shells ring when hitting the asphalt. And in the middle of all this chaos we can hear birds chirping and wind blowing through trees – all that perfectly contributes to the overall atmosphere of an abandoned city where no one goes but mercenaries and animals.
Escape from Tarkov still has no release date more specific than 2016. All you can do now is sign up for closed beta on the official website and wait.
