Epic Games Store Will Add New Social Features

Epic Games Store will get some improvements. First new features (including player cards) will arrive later this month.

Epic Games Store is mostly famous for its regular giveaways. This is obviously a good incentive to sign up for an account, but there have long been claims that the platform could use some improvements to be able to put up a fight with Steam. We won't be waiting long for some of them. Epic Games published a post dedicated to the social features of its store and announced the introduction of some new features later this month.

The message on the platform's official website clearly shows that it will follow in Steam's footsteps. Later this month, Epic Games Store will introduce player cards and a streamlined friend search, followed by improvements for groups with the ability to freely leave a game. Also in March, we're getting a minimized view of the social dashboard and a "do not disturb" feature (or pause notifications).

Epic Games has also assured that it is preparing further updates, which we are to hear about "soon". These will certainly come in handy, as Epic Games Store's functionalities are still limited. Especially in comparison to Steam, which is being constantly developed by Valve.
