Epic Games Store Owners of Fallout 4 Won't Play Fallout: London at Launch. GOG Representative Explains Why
Fallout: London will eventually come out in a version for the next-gen update of Fallout 4. However, until then, the mod will remain unavailable on the Epic Games Store.
Fallout: London won't work on Fallout 4 bought from the Epic Games Store - at least not from the start.
As reported by the representative of the GOG.com store (via VG247), the reason is simple: the London mod to Fallout 4 will require an older version of the game. As we have known for a long time, the FOLON team was unpleasantly surprised by the sudden release of the "next-gen" FO4 update, to the extent that it forced the postponement of the release from April 23 to an indefinite future.
However, then GOG came to the rescue. On July 7, the Polish platform received all the modification files, suggesting that the premiere of Fallout: London is near. However, tests are still ongoing - the release date of the mod remains unknown.
The team had no chance to adapt and test the modification for the latest version of Fallout 4 in less than three months, especially considering its unstable nature even after updates. Therefore, it will be necessary to use the so-called "rollback" and revert Fallout 4 to the previous version before the "next-gen" update. This option is available on both GOG and Steam - but, as a GOG.com representative notes, not in the Epic Games Store.
Some players blame either the modders themselves or the Epic store. However, complaints about Bethesda are becoming more frequent. Their next-gen update appeared many years after the announcement, and some fans even stopped believing in its debut. The update not only made the work of mod creators more difficult but also ruined many fan modifications that had already been released.
Of course, this is just a temporary inconvenience. Fallout: London will ultimately be released in a version for the "next-gen fourth part," allowing EGS users to play it, although the release for them will be much later than the current release of the mod.
In Fallout: London, we will have another unexpected visitor: John Bercow, a British politician and former spokesperson for the House of Commons in the British Parliament (via Discord / VG274). This is probably an even more surprising voice than the famous actors playing characters in games or series.
