Embracer Records Big Profit Increase Thanks to Evil West
The Swedish Embracer Group can consider the third quarter of fiscal 2022 a very successful one - recorded profits can be counted in millions of dollars, thanks to, in no small measure, to Evil West.
Swedish company Embracer Games published the report for the third quarter of fiscal 2022 (October - December) , informing of a 128% increase in net sales compared to the same period last year. This represents an increase in revenue - in Swedish kronor - from about $0.44 to $1 billion.
PC and consoles significantly in the black
This result is made up of revenues from sales of:
- PC and console games: up 64% from $193 million to $317 million;
- mobile games: up 2% from $135 million to $140 million;
- table games (board and card games): down 5% from $384 million to $366 million;
- in the entertainment and services category: up 71% from $120 million to $206 million.
In contrast in the first nine months of fiscal 2022 (the period from April to December), the company generated $2.51 billion, recording sales growth of 56% in the categories of PC and console games and 43% in mobile games during that period.
Evil West a success
The company also listed its most profitable games in the published report, albeit without providing specific numbers. Revenue growth was driven mainly by two games released in November 2022: Goat Simulator 3 and Evil West. The former received high ratings and lived up to management's expectations, despite the fact that the title was released exclusively on Epic Games Store (on PC) and current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S). The second was well received by gamers and pleased management with high sales.
In addition, the company noted that older titles continue to earn well and contributed significantly to the bottom line. These include titles like Deep Rock Galactic, Hot Wheels Unleashed, Insurgency: Sandstorm, SnowRunner, Star Trek Online, Chivalry 2 or Borderlands 3.
The giant is preparing interesting games for the coming years. Currently Embracer member companies are working on 31 AAA projects, as many as 19 of which will be released before March 2026. The company's next big game will be Dead Island 2 with release set for April 21, 2023, followed by Homeworld 3 (debut in June). This year we'll see games such as: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, Remnant II and PayDay 3.
