Economy 2.0 in Cities: Skylines 2 Delayed. We'll Still Have to Wait for Major Patch [Update: Release Date]
The Economy 2.0 patch hasn't yet hit Cities: Skylines 2. We'll have to wait a little longer for the big changes.
UPDATE
The patch was delayed because of issues in obtaining a certificate due to last-minute changes. The Colossal Order team announced that the Economy 2.0 update will finally be released on June 24.
The developer has already emphasized a preference for not making significant changes when employees are unable to oversee the debut of updates and therefore cannot respond to potential errors, due to the national holiday in Sweden and Finland.
Original news
Patch to Cities: Skylines 2 with Economy 2.0 has been delayed. Colossal Order Studio wanted to release an update between June 8 and 19, but ultimately they won't be able to meet this deadline (via X).
It should be noted that the Colossal Order team wasn't obligated to release the update by June 19th. The studio mentioned from the start that it was "targeting" that deadline, which allowed for the possibility of releasing this major patch a little later.
However, based on information from Tuesday, it was suggested that work on Economy 2.0 is in its final stages, so there is unlikely to be a significant delay in the release of this update. However, what is puzzling is the statement that the studio will share information tomorrow (i.e. today), "as soon as they become available."
In theory, it could very well be about releasing an update, but an earlier statement from the Discord channel confirms that it's about publishing a "new official announcement." What would be the reason for the team to delay sharing such information?
Economy 2.0 is arguably the most important update to Cities: Skylines 2, introducing major changes not only in the economy. So it's no wonder that players aren't thrilled about the last-minute delay of this patch's release.
