EA Will Shut Down Servers of 3 Great Games Later This Year [Update]
The servers of more games from Electronic Arts will soon be shut down. Before the end of the year, the online modes of three titles will go dark: Dead Space 2, Crysis 3 and Dante's Inferno.
UPDATE:
The full list of games whose servers EA will shut down this year, looks as follows:
- Crysis 3 (September 7)
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 (October 10)
- Restaurant DASH: Gordon Ramsay (October 30)
- FIFA 18, 19, 20, 21 (November 1)
- NHL 19 (November 7)
- Battlefield 1943, Bad Company, Bad Company 2 (December 8)
- Dante's Inferno (December 8)
- Dead Space 2 (December 8)
- Mirror's Edge Catalyst (December 8)
Details - including the versions of the games affected by the server shutdown - can be found here.
Electronic Arts has decided to close the online servers of more games. As noted by Pure Xbox, on the company's official website, where you can find a list of all games whose online services will be shut down in the future, three more productions have appeared. We have listed them below.
- Crysis 3 - servers will be shut down on September 7 (this applies to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One versions - in backward compatibility - and those available on Steam and the EA App).
- Dante's Inferno - servers will be shut down on December 8 (for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360 versions)
- Dead Space 2 - servers will "go dark" on December 8 (this applies to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions).
All these games are really good titles. FPS Crysis 3 can boast an average rating 76% from critics on Metacritic, and on Steam as much 86% of reviews are positive. It is worth noting that 2021's remaster of this game has no multiplayer mode, so the opportunity to play this title with friends will soon be gone for good.
Average score of the third-person action game Dante's Inferno on Metacritic is 75/100. the so-called metascore of the survival horror Dead Space 2 on the same website is 87/100, and on Steam the game has 94% positive reviews (out of more than 18 thousand). It is worth noting that these three games will not be removed from digital stores - at least for now, there is no news on this.
It may be a little puzzling that Electronic Arts has not announced the closure of the servers of the above productions beforehand. In the past, the company has informed for example, about the removal of Battlefield games from the stores and the elimination of their online modes.
