Last year's FIFA 23 was the last installment of the series using the International Federation of Football license. This year, Electronic Arts will replace the series with something new, releasing EA Sports FC 24. In an interview with 3djuegos the developers tried to explain the advantages of such a move.

  1. Samuel Rivera, or creative director EA Sports FC 24, claims that abandoning the FIFA license provided the developers with more freedom, as they no longer had to follow many of the rules imposed by the organization.
  2. For example, the game will feature more sports brands, such as NIKE. Previously, Electronic Arts had to give a privileged position to Adidas.
  3. Developers also no longer have to slavishly follow FIFA Fair Play guidelines. Rivera couldn't reveal any specifics on the matter, but editors at 3djuegos speculate that this could mean, for example, that players will remove their jerseys while celebrating goals, and that injuries could be much more visually brutal. They also don't rule out fights between players or declarations of political nature in stadiums. All of this would make virtual matches better reflect what really happens during soccer games.

Abandoning FIFA's requirements could also allow for more fantastic scenarios. We know, for example, that EA Sports FC 24 will include an option for games in which men and women will compete on the same field. It's not hard to imagine that previously such an option was impossible due to licensing agreements.

Recall that EA Sports FC 24 will hit store shelves on September 29, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
