EA Claims It Has Nothing to do With KOTOR Remake

It appears that BioWare, the creators of the original KotOR, and EA have nothing to do with the remake (or at least they won't admit it). That's what the company's official stance indicates.

IN A NUTSHELL

  1. Game journalist and presenter Geoff Keighley asked BioWare and EA if they are involved in the development of KotOR Remake;
  2. EA representative responded in a rather convoluted way, pretty much dodging the topic;
  3. From the content of the message we can infer that the company is not involved in the work on the title.

After a period of rumors and speculations, Knights of the Old Republic Remake was finally officially announced during this year's PlayStation Showcase. The game is developed by Aspyr Media, which is responsible for ports of many games from the Star Wars universe, including the iconic RPGs. However, the game's publisher is Lucasfilm. Fans began to wonder whether BioWare (the devs of the original) plays a role in the project. From the correspondence of journalist and games presenter Geoff Keighley with the company it comes out that the studio does not help in any way with work on the title.

Keighley asked directly BioWare (owned by Electronic Arts) if it's involved in KotOR Remake but EA rep answered rather evasively:

As we can read, the response provides no details. Geoff Keighley is also probably not quite sure what the content of the message should mean. However, it is probably just an evasive "no".

We do not know too much about KotOR Remake and probably we'll have to wait a little longer for the release. Nevertheless, one can only hope that the devs will soon begin to share some details about the title. Certainly, the good news is that some of the voices known from the original will return to the game.
