EA Boasts of FIFA 21's Success; FUT Engagement has Grown Significantly
As part of the report summarizing the first quarter of fiscal year 2022, Electronic Arts boasted the popularity of FIFA 21. According to the data, the latest installment of the famous series of football simulators has reached more than 31 million players on PC and consoles.
There is a large group of players among whom the FIFA series arouses considerable controversy. They accuse its creators, EA Sports of too small number of changes in gameplay in subsequent parts, released each year, and an unpleasant system of microtransactions in FIFA Ultimate Team mode, among other things. However, these complaints don't change the fact that the successive installments of the football simulator series are very popular year after year. FIFA 21 is no exception in this regard. As Electronic Arts informed in the report summarizing the first quarter of fiscal year 2022, the title reached over 31 million PC and console players.
The aforementioned FUT (or FIFA Ultimate Team) also did very well. The number of matches played in this network mode, in which we can build our dream team with cards, increased by as much as 48% compared to last year. This, of course, means an opportunity for EA to make even more money.
Finally, we can ask ourselves whether FIFA 22 will also succeed in the market? Judging by the popularity of the franchise and the fact that the creators promise a lot of changes (a large part of which, unfortunately, will be present only on next-gen consoles), we can safely assume that it will.
